Advancing Public Safety Efforts

Public safety is the cornerstone of a thriving community, and it’s a responsibility I take seriously. As a former EMT, I’ve seen the critical importance of public safety up close. I’m committed to expanding public safety measures in Victorville, ensuring that our first responders have the cutting-edge equipment and technology they need to protect our community. But improving public safety isn’t just about equipment—it’s about relationships.

Too many residents, especially in minority communities, feel disconnected from law enforcement, and this lack of trust undermines the safety of everyone. I believe we have a lot of work to do to restore these relationships. If elected, I will prioritize rebuilding trust between residents and law enforcement, fostering open communication, and ensuring that every person in Victorville feels secure and respected.

Addressing Public Safety Needs with More Staffing and Resources

Victorville faces a high number of public safety calls, placing significant pressure on our first responders. This demand often stretches our public safety resources thin, impacting response times and the overall effectiveness of emergency services. To address this issue, I will advocate for increasing staffing levels for our police and fire departments, ensuring that we have enough officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel to meet the needs of our growing community. Additionally, I will push for more funding and resources to support our public safety departments, including access to the latest technology and training programs. By investing in our public safety infrastructure, we can ensure that every call for help is met with a prompt and effective response.

Restoring Trust with Minority Communities

Victorville is home to a diverse population, including many minority communities who often feel marginalized and distrustful of law enforcement. This lack of trust is a significant barrier to effective public safety. I am committed to restoring and strengthening the relationship between these communities and law enforcement by creating spaces for open dialogue, implementing cultural sensitivity training for officers, and ensuring that police practices are fair and just. If elected, I will work to establish community outreach programs that focus on building trust and understanding, ensuring that all residents, regardless of their background, feel safe and supported in Victorville. By actively engaging with minority communities and addressing their concerns, we can create a more inclusive and secure environment for everyone.
