Lasting Solutions for Homelessness

Homelessness is one of the most pressing challenges facing Victorville, and it’s an issue that requires compassionate, long-term solutions. My experience as an EMT has shown me that homelessness is often the result of deeper issues, such as mental health struggles and addiction. While temporary shelters provide immediate relief, they are not enough to address the root causes of homelessness. I’m a strong supporter of the new Wellness Shelter, but I believe we can do more.

If elected, I will work to develop comprehensive programs that focus on mental health, addiction treatment, and job training, partnering with local nonprofits and community organizations to provide the support our homeless population needs to rebuild their lives. Healthy people make healthy communities, and I’m committed to finding solutions that benefit everyone in Victorville.

Prioritizing Mental Health Treatment

Mental health issues are at the heart of the homelessness crisis in Victorville. Many individuals experiencing homelessness are battling untreated mental health conditions, which can make it difficult for them to find stability and reintegrate into society. As someone who has seen the devastating effects of untreated mental illness firsthand, I am committed to making mental health treatment a central focus of our efforts to combat homelessness. If elected, I will advocate for increased funding for mental health services, including access to counseling, psychiatric care, and addiction treatment programs. By providing these critical services, we can help individuals address the root causes of their homelessness and support their journey toward recovery and stability.

Supporting Struggling Mothers and Children

Homelessness doesn’t just affect individuals—it impacts families, particularly mothers and their children, who are among the most vulnerable in our community. Many struggling mothers find themselves without a safe place to live, which creates a cycle of instability that can be incredibly difficult to break. These families need more than just a temporary shelter; they need a healthy, supportive environment where they can thrive. If elected, I will prioritize initiatives that provide safe housing, access to healthcare, and educational opportunities for mothers and children in need. By creating programs that focus on the well-being of these families, we can help break the cycle of homelessness and ensure that every child in Victorville has the opportunity to grow up in a stable, nurturing environment.
